Itinerary
After an early transfer from Marrakech, we arrive in Taliouine (984m), a key starting point for treks in the Jebel Sirwa massif. Here, we load our mules and begin the first leg of our journey with an easy, 4-5 hour walk to Akhfamane (1250m), where we spend the night in a Berber house (gîte). If we arrive too late from Marrakech, we can opt to drive directly to Akhfamane.
Today, we walk for about 6 hours, following two river valleys before reaching our campsite at Ti n'Iddr (1600m). The region is generally barren with little shade, but we pass through several charming Berber villages surrounded by terraced fields.
This day is more challenging, with around 6-7 hours of walking and a gradual ascent of 1000m to Tegragra (2650m), where we will camp. The trail becomes more difficult as we pass through Atougha, the last village before the summit of Sirwa. After Atougha, the path narrows and steepens, with many zigzags. We pass just below Jebel Guiliz (2905m) before reaching a large pool, where we set up camp.
We start early to reach the summit of Jebel Sirwa (3305m) before the midday heat. The ascent takes 2-3 hours and involves challenging terrain, including steep climbs, scrambling, and ridge walking. The views from the summit are breathtaking and well worth the effort. Afterward, we descend to Tizgui (2200m), where we camp for the night. The descent takes about 4 hours.
We continue our gradual descent, passing through several traditional villages, and eventually reach Tizlit (1700m), where we set up camp for the night. The total walking time today is about 5 hours.
Today covers a distance of about 20 km, but the terrain is relatively easy, taking about 6-7 hours. We continue our descent, passing terraced fields and small Berber villages, before arriving at Tinfat, where we spend the night in a Berber house (gîte) or camp.
From Tinfat, we leave Jebel Sirwa behind and are transported back through Taliouine to Marrakech.
